Robert Gibbs Woodworking

Robert Gibbs

Robert Gibbs (Dr. Bob) grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin. He spent many boyhood hours in the fields and woods enjoying nature and the great out of doors. His love of nature transferred easily into many Colorado years of mountain climbing and trail running. Age and ankle arthritis decreased the more strenuous activities. Hence, he became an "accidental" woodturner, now also enjoying nature through the beauty of highly figured wood.

Dr. Bob specializes in rare and unusual burls and spalted wood from the North American hardwood forests of Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan. His goal is to make artistic turnings that "let the wood speak for itself." He also enjoys making functional kitchen turnings such as bowls for salad, fruit, and popcorn and serving platters for cheese and appetizers.

Dr. Bob has received multiple "cover photo of the day" awards on the International World of Woodturners website. He is active in the American Association of Woodturners and the local Pikes Peak Woodturners.

Email contact is the easiest way to ask questions about the different woods, the finishes, other turnings, and commissions.
